Round table » Augmented Lawyer and Jurist »

On December 11, we organized in partnership with Décideurs Magazine, a round table around the theme of the augmented avocado. We wanted, through this event, to identify the bridges, common expectations and synergies that exist between the professions of lawyers and legal directors in the digital era.

Alexandre Yeremian, CEO of Jarvis Legal, Thomas Saint Aubin, CEO of Seraphin Legal and Arthur Sauze, lawyer and founder of Tedi.Legal were our three expert speakers on this occasion.

During the morning, 3 main topics were discussed:

– What are the short, medium and long term issues?

– The human/software part, generational gaps, a new problem within firms.

– The question of the cost of management software.

Regarding the 1st point, several elements emerged from the various discussions.

Task automation is a necessity. We must let the machine intervene where humans have no added value. This intelligent automation saves valuable time. It is also important to have collaborative tools in order to create efficient synergy and give everyone the means to work together. Mobility is an important issue but it must be at the service of everyone's productivity and not a constraint. Finally Security is the point which attracts the most attention and which remains the major issue for everyone. The majority of law firms still need to make progress on the issue of data security.

Regarding the 2nd point,

The human dimension is an essential fact. In fact, it is necessary to find a balance between the robot/software and human skills to achieve a positive result. Therefore, we raised the idea that it is now necessary adapted training to the arrival of legaltech within firms. Support is also important. Lawyers and legal directors who use new tools must be supported and trained in order to get the most out of them. Technology does not take precedence over humans, it must help them, support them, facilitate their work by relieving them of parasitic and/or unproductive but time-consuming tasks.

Regarding the last point,

Costs allocated Legatech tools can be important, especially if the firm equips itself with all the essential tools to optimally manage its files. Therefore, these costs can be a hindrance for firms, particularly small or medium-sized firms. The idea would therefore be to be able to offer a tailor-made solution with a freemium base and an offer of optional modules.

In conclusion,

Technological innovation must provide concrete answers to simplify the daily lives of lawyers and jurists. It is now essential for the growth of the firm and/or the company but it must be done intelligently by taking into account the human aspect.
